In a landmark moment in the 73-year history of Shri Patel Pragati Mandal, Mr. Badalbhai Sureshbhai Patel (32) has been elected as the youngest member of the Managing Committee with a resounding mandate. His election marks a historic milestone for the institution and reflects the growing trust of the community in youthful, ethical, and visionary leadership.

A native of Pardi Jhankri village, Olpad Taluka, Surat District, and currently residing in Olpad, Mr. Badal Patel secured his position with a significant margin during the recently concluded elections for the 2026–2028 Managing Committee. The elections witnessed an impressive voter turnout of 79.72%, with 3,174 votes cast out of 3,981 registered voters. Mr. Patel received 1,663 votes, placing him 9th among the top 10 candidates and firmly within the top 20 winners.

The elections were dominated by the ‘Surya Panel’, which emerged as the leading panel on the night of the results. Notably, for the first time in its history, Shri Patel Pragati Mandal also saw the emergence of a young and prominent election campaigner, highlighting a shift toward dynamic leadership.

Although professionally a lawyer, Mr. Badal Patel has been actively involved in journalism for the past 14 years, discharging his duties fearlessly and impartially. His integrity, dedication, and people-centric approach are widely believed to be key factors behind the overwhelming support he received from voters.

Following his victory, supporters and youths from Koli Sena celebrated enthusiastically by lifting him on their shoulders, garlanding him, and extending heartfelt congratulations.

Since its establishment in 1952, Shri Patel Pragati Mandal has never before elected a director at such a young age. Upon being entrusted with this responsibility, Mr. Badal Patel reaffirmed his commitment to serving society with complete dedication, honesty, and a unique vision for progress.

On the auspicious beginning of New Year 2026, Mr. Badal Patel paid floral tributes to Late Shri Bhagubhai Vimal, a respected figure who played a vital role in the foundation and growth of Shri Patel Pragati Mandal at its Wadi (Surat) premises. Late Shri Bhagubhai Vimal dedicated his heart, mind, and resources to the development of the institution, including the creation of its renowned garden, which today stands strong and flourishing like a banyan tree.

It is noteworthy that Late Shri Bhagubhai Vimal and Mr. Badal Patel belonged to the same village—Pardi Jhankri—and the same Faliya, making this tribute deeply personal and symbolic of continuity in community service.
