The contributions of Kutch’s Water Warrior Damjibhai Anchorwala will gain recognition across the country and abroad through the stamp- Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav

Department of Posts released a customized my stamp on Damjibhai Anchorwala, known as the Kutch Water Warrior. The stamp was released by Chief Postmaster General, Gujarat Circle Shri Ganesh V. Sawaleshwarkar and Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav on 29th December 2025 at a function held at the Circle Office, Ahmedabad. Director of Postal Services, Shri Surekh Reghunathan, Managing Trustee of Saurashtra Trust Shri Hardik Mamania, Trustee Shri Sanjaybhai D. Shah and Shri Atul D. Shah, Editor of Kutchmitra Shri Deepak Mankad, and General Manager of Kutchmitra Shri Mukesh Dholakia have also graced the function.
On this occasion, Chief Postmaster General Shri Ganesh V. Sawaleshwarkar said that stamps depict the country’s culture, history, science, and achievements, thereby promoting national pride and heritage along with communication. Life of prominent philanthropist and industrialist Damjibhai was dedicated to Kutch and upliftment of society, and like him, youth should always remember their loyalty and responsibility towards their grassroots.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that Damjibhai Anchorwala made valuable contribution for realization of water at Kutch. Along with being an industrialist, he was also a renowned social worker. This stamp, released in his honor as a Kutch Water Warrior, will serve as a means to convey Damjibhai’s personality, struggles, and contributions to society to generations across the country and abroad. Shri Yadav added that a stamp is actually a small ambassador that travels across countries, introducing them to each other’s civilization, culture, and heritage. Each stamp carries a story behind it and it is essential to connect youth with these stories
Trustee of Saurashtra Trust, Shri Atul D. Shah appreciated the India Post for releasing this stamp and highlighted the life of his father, Damjibhai Laljibhai Shah – Anchorwala (1937–2023). He said that Shri Damjibhai, born in Kutch, had dreamed of becoming a doctor but the water crisis in Saurashtra and Kutch inspired him to devote himself to social service and nation-building. He considered the water crisis in Kutch as his personal responsibility and worked tirelessly to resolve it. Due to his relentless efforts and vision, water from the Narmada River was brought to the drought-affected Kutch district. This historic initiative brought lasting changes to the lives of millions of people in Kutch and gave new direction to the region’s development.
Managing Trustee of Saurashtra Trust, Shri Hardik Mamania, said that the life of Damjibhai Anchorwala is an inspiration for the youth. Trustee Shri Sanjaybhai D. Shah, Editor of Kutchmitra Shri Deepak Mankad, and General Manager of Kutchmitra Shri Mukesh Dholakia also also highlighted various aspects of Damjibhai Anchorwala ‘s personality and achievements.
On this occasion, Senior Postmaster of Ahmedabad GPO, Shri Alpesh R. Shah, Assistant Director Shri N.N. Raval, Ms. Kinjal Shah, Shri Miral Khamar, Assistant Superintendent Ms. Vijayalakshmi, Shri Jaldeep Gohel, Shri Dhaval Bavisi, Shri Birang Shah, Shri Bhavin Prajapati, Shri Ramesh G. Patel, Shri Dixit Rami, Ms. Dhara Kapadia, and many others were present. The program was conducted by Assistant Superintendent Shri Hardik Gadhvi.
