Deputy Chief Minister reviews Public Health and Medical Education department

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla conducted a detailed and comprehensive review of the Public Health and Medical Education Department at the Mantralaya in Bhopal. He held in-depth discussions on key issues, including the availability and quality of health services, human resource management, infrastructure development, medical education, and diagnostic and treatment facilities.


Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla thoroughly reviewed the recruitment processes being conducted through the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) and the Employee Selection Board (ESB). He examined the progress of recruitment for Medical Officers, medical specialists, physiotherapists, laboratory technicians, nursing officers, ANMs and other medical and support staff, and directed that all pending recruitment processes be completed at the earliest. He emphasised that health services must not be affected by staff shortages and all vacancies must be filled on time.


The meeting reviewed infrastructure projects, including under-construction hospital buildings, medical colleges, and community and primary health centres. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla directed strict adherence to prescribed quality standards and timelines. He also reviewed the procurement, installation and utilisation of modern medical equipment, emphasising the need for proper maintenance.


Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla reviewed the TB-Free India Campaign and directed that public participation be enhanced through the active involvement of public representatives, NGOs and community groups. He called TB elimination a collective effort requiring public awareness. The operational status of PM Shri Air Ambulance service was also assessed, with instructions for transparent and effective functioning to ensure swift, safe patient transport in emergencies. He ordered regular, intensive inspections of drug manufacturing units with strict quality compliance. The Deputy Chief Minister directed priority upgrades to testing infrastructure for stronger diagnostic facilities statewide. He emphasised proper functioning of all blood banks, availability of essential equipment, blood quality and full regulatory compliance. Telemedicine services must be strengthened, he said, to provide specialist consultations in remote and rural areas, with a focus on technical resources, training and network expansion.


Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla stated the state government’s goal is to provide accessible, quality and timely health services to every citizen. All departments and agencies must coordinate for effective scheme implementation. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Shri Sandeep Yadav, Health Commissioner Shri Tarun Rathi, Health Director Shri Dinesh Srivastava, NHM MD Dr. Saloni Sidana and other senior officials and construction agency representatives.
