• The first Dr. Ambedkar National Award was given to Dean of Colleges Prof. Balaram Pani.
  • Dean of Colleges, Delhi University, Prof. Balaram Pani, and 30 individuals were honored with the “Dr. Ambedkar National Honor 2025” for their commendable services and notable contributions in the fields of education, literature, social service, journalism, and women’s welfare.

Under the joint auspices of the Forum of Academics for Social Justice and Sant Sher Singh Research and Education Trust (Regd.), a ceremony was organized at Gandhi Bhawan, Delhi University, where 30 distinguished individuals were honored with the Dr. Ambedkar National Honor-2025 for their remarkable contributions in the fields of education, literature, journalism, social service, and women’s welfare.

The chief guest at the event was former Vice-Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism, Prof. K.G. Suresh; special guests included former Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Haryana, Prof. Rajbir Solanki; and Joint Proctor of Delhi University, Prof. Geeta Sahare. The program was presided over by Chairman of the Managing Committee of Gandhi Bhawan and Dean of Colleges, Delhi University, Prof. Balaram Pani.

The program began with the lighting of the lamp and offering of floral tributes before the portrait of Babasaheb.

In his address, chief guest Prof. K.G. Suresh said that all great thinkers faced immense struggles in their lives. It was through such struggles that a great thinker of the highest caliber like Babasaheb was born. He stated that Dr. Ambedkar was the world’s greatest warrior for social justice and played a leading role in nation-building. Prof. Suresh also discussed Babasaheb’s contributions to the field of journalism.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Geeta Sahare said that even today, caste oppression and discrimination continue in India’s villages. Due to the work Babasaheb did for the upliftment of women, women like us have been able to achieve something in life.

In his address, Prof. Rajbir Solanki said that by creating a society free from discrimination, with harmony and equality, we will all offer true tribute to Babasaheb. Praising the organization, he said that by honoring individuals who are carrying forward Babasaheb’s vision and mission, the Chairman of the organization, Prof. Hansraj Suman, is giving momentum to Babasaheb’s work. He deserves commendation.

Former President of the Delhi University Teachers’ Association, Prof. Ajay Kumar Bhagi, stated that confining great figures like Babasaheb within any boundary is a crime. Ambedkar was a nationalist and a true son of India. His comparison with anyone is impossible. We should not compare any great figure with another great figure. Every great person has their own importance and contribution.

In his presidential address, Prof. Pani expressed gratitude to the organization and said that such events infuse awareness and awakening in society. By following Babasaheb’s path, we must play our role in building a good society and nation. Babasaheb is an idea. That idea has inspired us to acquire everything through knowledge. He informed that the University has included Dr. Ambedkar in the curriculum and provides information about him to students. He also mentioned that under the new education policy, information about great heroes from all sections of society is being imparted under the Indian knowledge tradition.

This year’s first Dr. Ambedkar National Award was given to Dean of Colleges Prof. Balaram Pani. As part of the honor, he was presented with ₹11,000, a shawl, a memento, a citation, an angvastra (upper garment), etc.

Yogesh; Dr. Balwan Singh Babiyan (Editor, Star Savera); Dr. Rishi Pal Ranga; Shri Devanand Rai; Shri Dharmendra Dagar (Dainik Bhaskar); Shri Saurabh Bhatnagar (Modern Shrines, English Daily Newspaper),Ms. Rashmi Sharma (Amar Ujala); Shri Lokesh Sharma (Dainik Jagran); Shri Mrityunjay Rai (Punjab Kesari); Shri Kumar Mangalam Tiwari (Navodaya Times); Shri Daya Ram (Haribhoomi); Shri Madan Lal (Loksatya); Shri Krishna Dev Pathak (Veer Arjun); Dr. Ram Kumar Paliwal; Dr. Amar Singh Patlan; Prof. Pramod Kumar (Deshbandhu College); Prof. Manju Sharma (Kalindi College); Shri Rajbir Singh; and Shri Satpal Singh, etc., were honored with the Dr. Ambedkar National Award.

According to the Trust’s Chairman, Prof. Hansraj Suman, all honorees were presented with a shawl, memento, citation, angvastra, etc.

The ceremony was inaugurated by chief guest Prof. K.G. Suresh with a garlanding of Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait. It was presided over by Dean of Colleges Prof. Balaram Pani. Special guests included former Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Prof. R.B. Solanki, and Prof. Geeta Sahare. Others present included Prof. K.P. Singh, Ms. Pallavi Priyadarshini, Dr. Saurabh, Shri Rajbir Singh, etc.

The program was conducted by the organization’s Publicity Secretary and educationist Dr. K. Yogesh. Thanks were given by the organization’s Chairman, Prof. Hansraj Suman.

Prof. Hansraj Suman stated that this honor is given annually to litterateurs, intellectuals, social workers, and journalists who are awakening people in some way and giving society a new direction. He further said that his Trust is working to uplift children from neglected sections of society through education.

The program concluded with the national anthem.
