The proposed reorganisation of administrative boundaries with the creation of new districts in Delhi is expected to bring governance closer to the people, significantly improving public service delivery and administrative efficiency.
According to official information, residents of the newly formed districts will directly benefit from easier access to government services, quicker resolution of complaints and reduced workload on administrative officers. The move aims to eliminate long-standing boundary-related confusion and ensure citizens clearly understand the administrative jurisdiction they fall under.

13 Districts and Their Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Offices
Under the proposed framework, 13 districts have been identified, each with designated SDM offices to streamline administration:
South-East District: Jangpura, Kalkaji, Badarpur
Old Delhi District: Sadar Bazaar and Chandni Chowk
North District: Burari, Adarsh Nagar, Bawana
New Delhi District: Delhi Cantt and New Delhi
Central District: Patel Nagar and Karol Bagh
North-Central District: Shakur Basti, Shalimar Bagh and Model Town
South-West District: Najafgarh, Matiala, Dwarka and Bijwasan
Outer North District: Mundka, Narela and Bawana
North-West District: Kirari, Nangloi Jat and Rohini
North-East District: Karawal Nagar, Gokulpuri, Yamuna Vihar and Shahdara
East District: Gandhi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar and Patparganj
South District: Chhatarpur, Malviya Nagar, Deoli and Mehrauli
West District: Vikaspuri, Janakpuri and Rajouri Garden


Budgetary Support and Implementation
Officials said that an initial budget allocation has been approved to support the transition during the current financial year. The reorganisation is expected to improve efficiency in land records management, property registration and citizen-centric services, while strengthening coordination between civic and revenue authorities.

The administrative overhaul is being viewed as a major step towards decentralised governance, ensuring transparency, accountability and faster decision-making. Once fully implemented, the new district structure is expected to make governance more responsive, citizen-friendly and effective across the national capital.
