Dr. Bharat Sharma (Member – Ministry of Culture, Government of India), speaking at the release of renowned cartoonist Devendra Sharma’s book “Circus”, said that cartoons in Indian democracy are a powerful example of freedom of expression.

Cartoonists raise questions about governance, systems, and social structures without using harsh language. Cartoons are not just a medium of entertainment but a powerful mirror of society. Through simple lines, symbols, and humor, they effectively present profound social, political, and cultural truths. Cartoons highlight societal malpractices, anomalies, and injustices through satire. Often, a single illustration proves more impactful than a long speech.
Indian cartoons bring together diverse languages, cultures, and traditions on a common platform, strengthening the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat”.
Dr. Bharat Sharma was welcomed by senior cartoonist Devendra Sharma, who presented him with a comprehensive cartoon book of his creations. Senior industrialist Rakesh Khandelwal and Virendra Pauranik were also present on the occasion.
