Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav was honoured with a ‘pagdi’ (turban) by the farmers of Delhi, spearheaded by the  ‘Delhi Dehat Morcha’, as they extended their open support to the Congress in the Delhi Assembly elections. The farmers were highly impressed with the promises in the Congress manifesto for their upliftment and welfare as the AAP and BJP had ignored them totally over the past 10 years. Farmers from the villages of Delhi thanked Shri Devender Yadav for considering the long-standing demands of the farmers in the Congress manifesto, which was a commendable effort to provide justice to the farmers, as the AAP and BJP had treated them  mere vote banks.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the Congress manifesto promises many incentives to farmers, including “Sabko Plot–Smart Village” scheme,  ownership rights to lands and plots under Section 74 (4) and the 20-point programme, revision of Circle Rate to make it Rs 5 crore per acre, to revise the Land Pooling policy  to focus on farmers’ interest. Besides,, to facilitate quality higher education to the rural youth,  a West Campus University will be established  at Najafgarh and a North West University Campus at Bawana.

Jai Kisan Andolan Delhi Pradesh president and a founding member of the Delhi Dehat Morcha Shri Rajiv Yadav said that the AAP Government had pushed the urban villages of Delhi 20 years behind, and their only hope now rest with the Congress, as the party’s promises were very reassuring for the farmers for their development and progress. Prominent among those present were Shri Chokraj Kataria, Ch. Dilbagh Singh Nilwal, Dr Ram Niwas Yadav, Jagdish Yadav,  Narendra Yadav, Rohtas Singh Rana, Vijendra Singh Yadav, Karan Singh, Devendra Kumar Dagar and many prominent farmers’ leaders.
