Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that it was shocking and highly condemnable that Police assaulted the Congress candidate for the Rithala Assembly Shri Sushant Mishra, while holding a lawful ‘padayatra’ in the constituency, approved by the Delhi Police. He said that officials even tried to stop the Padayatra, further highlighting the blatant misuse of power. Shri Devender Yadav said that this unconstitutional act at the behest of the Aam Aadmi Party and BJP, is a clear threat to democracy and exposes their fear of Congress’ soaring popularity among the people of Delhi.
Shri Devender Yadav said that the AAP and BJP leaders were afraid to meet the people as they have no answer to people’s many questions, and their failure to do any constructive work during the past 11 years. He said that AAP was now desperate to disturb the overwhelming support Congress candidates were getting from the supports by misusing the official machinery. He demanded an immediate probe into this unjust action, and sought strict action against officials who assaulted the Congress candidate.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal, who talks about honesty and transparency, has been allowing the AAP candidates to openly flout the Model Code of Conduct, but surprisingly, officials have been keeping a blind eye to Aam Aadmi Party’s poll code violations.
Shri Devender Yadav said that despite Shri Sushant Mishra’s complaints against AAP for poll code violations, as the Rithala candidate has been hanging AAP’s festoons and flags in various places in the constituency, officials, including those from Election Commission, have not taken any action, nor removed those publicity material. Shri Yadav said that the election officials have not been acting in an impartial manner, as Congress complaints have met with deafening silence.
