BJP hand-in-glove with Kejriwal in hiding the CAG reports– Centre could have placed them in Parliament for a discussion—Devender Yadav
All India Congress Committee treasurer Shri Ajay Maken, MP said that Kejriwal, who came to power on the anti-corruption plank, is a “Farjiwal” as the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report on public health and management of health services has exposed serious irregularities and corruption in the health sector of Delhi, though Kejriwal had been harping on the so-called “Delhi model of health” to mislead the people. (The CAG report is attached).

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today, Shri Ajay Maken, along with Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav, said that there were 14 CAG reports which were to be tabled in the Delhi Assembly, however, the reports were not tabled due to the slanging match between the Lt. Governor and Kejriwal. Shri Ajay Maken said that Kejriwal wanted to conceal his corruption in the health sector as the CAG, in its 240-page report, has critically evaluated the performance of the Delhi Government in public health infrastructure. Former Delhi Minister Dr Narendra Nath, AICC co-incharges for Delhi Shri Sukhwinder Singh Dani and Shri Danish Abrar, Shri Jyoti Singh, AICC national spokesperson Shri Abhay Dubey, Asma Tasleem and Rashmi Singh Miglani.

Shri Ajay Maken said that the CAG report called the bluff of Kejriwal, who used to boast about completing projects ahead of schedule, to avoid cost over runs, but the AAP Government caused Rs 382.52 crore loss to the Government due to the increase of final cost from the tendered cost on account of corruption and delay in the completion of the Indira Gandhi, Burari and Maulana Azad Dental Hospital Phase-II. He said that the construction work of these hospitals was started by the Congress Government, but due to Kejriwal’s corruption and ineptness, the work got delayed, and the cost went up. He said that the Indira Gandhi hospital was delayed by 5 years, with the cost rising by Rs 314.9 crore, Buari was delayed by six years (Rs 41.26 crore cost jump) and Maulana Azad by three years (cost jump Rs 26.36 crore).

Shri Ajay Maken said that the Delhi Government acquired 15 plots between 2007 and 2015 where hospitals and dispensaries could have been constructed, but nothing was done. He said that Rs 2623,35 crore of the budget for various infrastructure projects lapsed from 2016-2022, and funds sanctioned by the Government of India for Covid care were also not utilized when people died and suffered in Delhi due to shortage of medical oxygen, hospital beds, medicines and even ambulances. He said that out of the Rs 635.62 score sanctioned by the Centre for various heads, Rs 360.64 crore were returned, which showed the irresponsible governance of Kejriwal.
Shri Ajay Maken said that the Kejriwal Government, in its four budgets from 2016-17 to 2020-21, announced the addition of 32,000 beds in hospitals, but could add only 1235 beds. He said that in nine hospitals, the per centage of bed occupancy ranged from 101% to 189%, and in seven other hospitals, the bed occupancy ranged from 109% to 169%, as more than one patient occupied each bed. He said that staff shortage and lack of equipment have affected the services in many hospitals, including Delhi Government’s biggest hospital LNJP, with surgery waiting period stretching from three to 12 months.
DPCC president Shri Devender Yadav said that BJP and AAP were hand-in-glove in hiding the CAG reports from the public domain. He said that if Kejriwal deliberately did not table the 14 CAG reports in the Delhi Assembly, the Central Government could have discussed these reports in Parliament so that people could realize the extent of corruption committed by the Kejriwal Government in various projects. He said that Delhi Congress has been demanding tabling of the CAG reports in the Delhi Assembly for discussion, but since Kejriwal had much to hide, he did not table them, and BJP also kept mum. He said that the disclosure in the CAG report about corruption of over Rs 2000 crore in the liquor deal was a clear pointer to the extent of corruption of the Kejriwal Government.
