Congress will implement its promise of Rs 2500 to women under the Pyari Didi Yojna on coming to power—Smt. Dipika Pandey Singh
Jharkhand Minister of Panchayati Raj Smt. Dipika Pandey Singh said that Congress works for the welfare of the people, delivers on its promises, and does not indulge in gimmics to mislead the public, like BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have done. Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Smt. Dipika Singh Pandey said that Congress Governments have fulfilled their promises to empower women, whether it was in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana or in a coalition Government like Jharkhand, and the party was committed to honour the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana of Rs 2500’ to every woman in Delhi when Congress returns to power in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. She said that the coalition Government in Jharkhand has made direct transfer of Rs 2500 into the accounts of 56 lakh women totalling Rs 1500 crore. She asked what prevented the BJP from implementing such a scheme throughout the country, and what prevented the AAP from providing financial help to the women in Delhi, instead of making empty election promises without no intention to fulfil them.
Smt. Dipika Pandey Singh said that Smt. Sheila Dikshit was the first Chief Minister to implement the Ladli Yojna to empower the girl child from economically weaker sections when Congress was in power in Delhi. She said that when the Ladli Yojna was first implemented in 2008-2009, the budgeted amount was Rs 86.44 crore, and the amount was increased ot Rs 112.29 crore in 2013-14, but the first thing the Kejriwal Government did was to slash the Ladli Yojna funds to Rs 95.64 crore, then to Rs 85.30 crore and by 2023-24, the amount was reduced to Rs 42.95 crore, which exposed Kejriwal’s attitude towards girl child from poor families. She said that similarly, the Congress Government also implemented various other schemes to financially empower widows, divorcees and abandoned women by giving them monthly pension of Rs 600 from 2007-08, and the amount was raised to Rs 1000 from 2008, and Rs 1500 from 2012, and 1.05 lakh women benefited from this scheme. She said that the Congress Government also started giving financial assistance of Rs 25000 for the marriage of the daughters of widows, which was enhanced to Rs 30,000. She said that the Congress Government also gave Rs 1000 pension per month to senior citizens, and those above 70 years Rs 1500 per month, with an additional Rs 500 to those belonging to SC/ST category, and around 3,43,708 people benefited from this scheme. And in the case of the death of the bread winner of a family, an immediate financial help of Rs 10,000 was given to the grieving family. She said that both BJP and AAP were only imitating what Congress had done, but the only difference was that while Congress delivered on its promises, others only indulged in empty rhetoric.
Smt. Dipika Pandey Singh wondered what prevented the AAP from giving financial help to women in the past 10 years, and why make a promise of Rs 2100 to milead the women voters on the eve of the Delhi Assembly elections? She said that the AAP Government made a similar promise to women in Punjab before the elections, but was yet to fulfil that promise. She said that law and order has deteriorated so much that women feel unsafe to step out of their homes in the Capital, as rapes and abductions have become a regular occurrence while the Capital has suffered deterioration in every field, including life threatening air and water pollution.
