Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that after coming out of jail on bail in connection with the liquor scam case, Kejriwal has been making announcements galore regarding various “free” schemes for women (Rs 2100 per month), auto-rickshaw drivers (insurance) and old age people with an eye on the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections to influence the voters, who have moved away from the Aam Aadmi Party for its failure to fulfill many past promises, with the latest being the “Sanjeevani Yojana”, which promises “free” medical care in government and private hospitals for all citizens above 60. He said that Kejriwal should first improve the pathetic condition of Government hospitals and the handful of Mohalla Clinics before making such announcements, which are mere election stunts with no intention to fulfil them.
Shri Devender Yadav said that before coming to power, Kejriwal had boasted that he would establish over 1000 Mohalla Clinics to cater to the basic health care needs of the poor, but 11 years down the line, Mohalla Clinics have become a standing joke and another symbol of Kejriwal’s corruption. He said that Kejriwal had closed down over 500 dispensaries established by the Congress Government to provide treatments like in a mini hospital for the poor, but Kejriwal shut down these dispensaries with an assurance to open the mohalla clinics though he could not set even half the number of promised mohalla clinics.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal had claimed that 200 types of tests would be conducted in the Mohalla Clinics, but the agency tasked with conducting such tests did not conduct even a single test but charged the Government nevertheless for the “tests”.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal should first restore the dilapidated condition of Government hospitals and Mohalla Clinics before announcing pointless “yojanas” like the “Sanjeevani Scheme”, as he had not fulfilled his past promises but he still shamelessly talks about the non-existent “Delhi Model of Healthcare”.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal has not specified how his “bankrupt” Government would finance such freebies as the AAP Government had sought to borrow Rs 10,000 crore from the National Small Savings Fund (NSSF) for the financial year 2024-25, and this decision comes despite opposition from the Delhi Government’s Principal Secretary (Finance) as he had highlighted the long term financial strain, as the loan would burden the Government with additional interest.
Shri Devender Yadav said that the voters of Delhi have become wiser, which he personally experienced during the Delhi Nyay Yatra, as the public remembers each of the many unfulfilled past promises of Kejriwal, and his fresh freebies will not have any impact on the people.
