Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that it was ironic that Kejriwal, who came to power capitalizing on the Nirbhaya incident by holding candle light protests and had promised to ensure the complete safety and security of women in the Capital when he comes to power, was forced to hold a “mahila adalat” on women’s security 11 years after he formed his first Government, which was a clear confession that he had failed to protect women, and he was passing the buck for his failures on others.
She Devender Yadav said that women’s safety and security had been compromised in Delhi a long time ago and Kejriwal should have taken up this matter with the Union Home Minister much earlier, instead of waiting for the Assembly elections to come to make political capital out of it. He said that writing letters to Home Minister Amit Shah by Kejriwal and CM Atishi will not solve women’s voes, but it needed joint efforts by the AAP and BJP Governments to enforce foolproof law and order in Delhi, but the Kejriwal Government had failed on this count too.
Shri Devender Yadav said that if women feel unsafe under the Kejriwal Government 11 years after AAP came to power, then Kejriwal did not fulfil his assurance of protecting women, like his many other promises. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party’s decision to roll out Rs 1,000 per month for women in Delhi under the Mahila Samman Yojana, coupled with Arvind Kejriwal’s promise to increase the amount to Rs 2,100 if re-elected, were in line with similar unfulfilled promise in Punjab. He said that before the 2022 Assembly elections, AAP had pledged to provide ₹1,000 monthly to women in Punjab, but this promise too has remained unfulfilled.
Shri Devender Yadav said that both Kejriwal and BJP become concerned about women’s security only when an election comes around to expose their double standards. He said that one of the first steps taken by Kejriwal after assuming power in Delhi was to discontinue the Ladli Yojna implemented by the Congress Government for the empowerment of women. He said that when another election has come knocking, Kejriwal indulges in political gimmicks to mislead the women voters by holding a pointless ‘mahila adalath’. He said that Kejriwal was notorious for reneging on his poll promises, and he will forget all about women’s security and welfare after the Delhi Assembly elections.
