Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that Arvind Kejriwal, who had in a sowrn affidavit claimed that he would not take any Government bungalow or red beacon (‘Laal Batti’)  vehicles or police security did the opposite after assuming power, which only exposed his dual face of projecinting the image of an “aam aadmi”  but  living the life of a “khas aadmi” in reality.

Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal had declared when AAP won the Assembly elections for the first time that neither he nor any of his ministers would move to the bungalows provided by the Government and insisted that they be given smaller Government flats. He said that  strangely, Kejriwal did not suffer any conscience pangs while building a “Sheesh Mahal” by squandering nearly Rs 75 crore of tax payers’ money on a total built up area of 21,000 square feet!

Shri Devender Yadav said that it was shocking to learn that the inventory in the bungalow after Kejriwal was forced to move out showed expensive fittings like window curtains operated with a motor costing Rs 4-6 crore, 16 state-of-the-art TVs costing Rs 64 lakh, reclining sofas costing Rs 10 lakh, an oven costing Rs 9 lakh, water supply and sanitary installations costing Rs 15 crore, decorative pillars costing upto Rs 36 lakh and toilet seats ranging between Rs 10-12 lakh, and an Aam Aadmi certainly did not live in such opulence.

Shri Devender Yadav said that had not Supreme Court’s strict bail conditions forced Kejriwal out of the Sheesh Mahal, the deepening mystery surrounding the bungalow would have lingered till he was voted out of power.
