Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav visited the Chhath Ghat at ITO, set up by the Poorvanchal Cell of Delhi Congress, led by Shri Shivram Pandey, and assured the devotees that when Congress returns to power, the Chhath Ghats, established by the Congress Government, will be further enlarged with far better facilities, taking into consideration the increasing population of Poorvanchalis in the Capital. He said that the AAP Government had done nothing to improve the Chhath Puja facilities in the past ten years other than making empty promises at the eleventh hour.

Shri Devender Yadav, referring to the toxic condition of the Yamuna waters, preventing the devotees from entering the waters to hold the puja, lest they catch infections, said that the Congress Government headed by Smt. Sheila Dikshit had always ensured that the Haryana Government released fresh water into the Yamuna well before the Chhath Puja to enable devotees to stand in clean and fresh water to hold the puja.

Shri Devender Yadav said that due to the neglect and inaction of the AAP Government, Yamuna water has become so toxic that even standing near the river bank was harmful to the health of the people, as drain water released into the river without treating it has made the river highly poisonous, which forced even the Delhi High Court to pass an order to prevent holding the Chhath Puja in the Yamuna river. He said that the Congress Government had created the Chhath Ghats near the Yamuna banks and various water bodies across the Capital, only to be destroyed by the AAP Government as Kejrwial and Atishi only made lip service without making any arrangement for the Chhath Puja festival, or ensuring clean water in the river for devotees to hold the puja.
