Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, who both were arrested and sent to jail for the liquor scam corruption case, have become so used to the comforts of power that they have ousted two Aam Aadmi Party MPs from their official residences to occupy them, which only exposes Kejriwal’s false façade of “aam aadmi’ as 5 Ferozshah Road, his new residence, is a prestigious address. He said that the truth was that both Kejriwal and Sisodia want to remain in elite company and stay in posh areas of the Capital to show Delhiites that they still wield the reins of power, though both face trial for the liquor scam.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal, who shamelessly stayed on in the official CM residence even after he was sent to jail and then released on bail by the Supreme Court with strigent conditions, claims to serve the interest of the common people, though he had squandered over Rs 70 crore of public funds to reconstruct the CM residence while Sisodia has been occupying the house allotted to present CM Atishi when she was first appointed as a Minister over one and a half years ago following Sisodia’s resignation after he was arrested.
Shri Devender Yadav said that it defies logic and illegal for the corruption-tainted Kejriwal and Sisodia to occupy Central Government allotted MP flats for which they are not entitled to, but occupied them by evicting the AAP MPs while Chief Minister Atishi continues to staty in her own house in Kalkaji. He said that Kejriwal’s claim that he wanted to stay in his Assembly constituency was a false sympathy for his constituency as he had not shown any such concern when he was living in the palatial Flag Staff road house at Civil Lines, which falls in the Chandni Chowk constituency.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal has been misusing the bail granted to him by the Supreme Court by claiming that he was falsely implicated in the liquor scam case, though the apex court had repeatedly rejected his bail application before finally releasing him on bail with very stringent conditions, which include that he must be present before the trial court on every hearing date and he cannot comment on the case publicly. He said that both Kejriwal and Sisodia were trying to varnish their tarnished image by creating a false narrative to mislead the common people who elected them to power for providing transparent and honest government, but they instead set a new bench mark in corruption through the liquor scam.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Kejriwal, who betrayed the bus marshals by first terminating their services on 11 October, 2023, was now shedding crocodile tears for their reinstatement as he was responsible for rendering lakhs of young people jobless. He said that before coming to power, Kejriwal had promised to regularize the services of all ad hoc employees, including guest teachers, but he took no initiative to regularize their services.
