NEW DELHI, September 7, 2023—To celebrate the first anniversary of Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of newly-appointed president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, held rallies and padayatras in all the 14 Districts of Delhi from 5 p.m  to 6 p.m today, Thursday.Thousands of Congress workers and leaders, people  from social and religious organisations and common  people, participated in the rallies.

In all the 14 districts, the rallies and padayatras were organised under the auspices of District presidents Surendra Kumar, Gurcharan Singh Raju, Dinesh Kumar Advocate, Virendra Kasana, Zubair Ahmed, Vishnu Swaroop Agarwal, Rajesh Chauhan, Adesh Bhardwaj, Manoj Yadav, Satbir Sharma, Vishal Mann, Madan Khorwal, Dharampal Chandela and Mirza Javed Ali. Others who participated in the rallies were Ex MP Shri Ramesh Kumar, former Delhi Minister Dr. Narendra Nath, Ex MLAs Hari Shankar Gupta and Vijay Lochav, Jagparvesh Kumar, Ex MCs Abhishek Dutt, Satish Gupta and Pushpa Singh, Observer Sushma Yadav, Shanti Swaroop, Naresh Sharma Neetu and others.

With tricolor flags and placards in their hands, Congress workers and common people, including youth and women, began assembling for the rallies and padayatras from 4 p.m in all the 14 Districts to celebrate the first anniversary of Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. They raised slogans such as “Mehangai Or Berojgari Se Nata Todo- Bharat Jhodo”, Bharat Judega, India Jeetega”, Congress Ko Lana Hai, Desh Ko Bachana Hai”,  and Jitna Jhooth Ka Shor Badega, Utna Sach Ka Jor Badhega”.

Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, along with Congress workers and leaders, today offered prayer at the Kalkaji Mandi, to seek blessings and pray for peace, harmony and brotherhood in the country, which was the salient features of Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. A large number of Congress workers and local people also joined Shri Lovely at the temple, and offer prayers. Shri Lovely was accompanied by former Delhi Speaker and DPCC president Shri Subhash Chopra, former Delhi Minister Shri Mangat Ram Singhal, ex-MLA Shri Mukesh Sharma, Neeraj Basoya, former Leader of the House in the MCD Shri Jitender Kumar Kochar, Shri Amit Malik, Shri Vipin Gaur and Hidyatullah.  

The common people were too happy to join the rallies and padayatra as they felt that the Bharat Jodo Yatra united the people against the atmosphere of hatred and animocity created by those hankering for power in the country. Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI, office-bearers of various cells and departments of Delhi Congress also took part in the rallies.

The common people’s reaction was that some political parties were creating an atmosphere of fear and hatred among the people to cling to power, but Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra inflicted a heavy blow on the shops of hatred, to open the shops of love, peace and harmony.

Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra created a new revolution of love and peace, as Shri Rahul Gandhi’s marathon yatra had inflicted a heavy blow on the communal and political forces who were trying to whip up unrest and hatred in the country. He said that for the Congress party, the unity and integrity of the country was the foremost priority. He said that the manner in which Shri Rahul Gandhi undertook the Bharat Jodo Yatra, weathering extreme heat, severe cold and pouring rains, rattled the communal forces spreading hatred and unrest across the country for the sole intention of usurping power.  

Shri Lovely said that Delhi was the soul of the nation, but the communal and casteist elements did not spare even the national Capital from the poison of hate and animosity. He said that the Congress Government carried out all-round developments in Delhi during its 15-year rule, and never ever allowed communal harmony to be disturbed. He asserted that Delhi Congress will regain its preeminent position in the Capital very soon. He appealed to the Congress workers to spread Shri Rahul Gandhi’s message of love and peace from door-to-door in Delhi.

Senior leader and ex-MLA Shri Mukesh Sharma said that in all the 14 Districts, thousands of people, including Congress workers, common people from the Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian communities participated in the rallies and padayatras, which was a clear indication that the Bharat Jodo Yatra had greatly impacted their lives, and they were once again looking upto the Congress lead Delhi to progress and development. Shri Mukesh Sharma said that it was the responsibility of every Congress worker to take the message of love and peace to every household in Delhi, and this campaign under Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely will continue to resonate.
