Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar, along with AICC In-charge of Delhi Shri Deepak Babaria, held a meeting with senior leaders, District presidents and District Co-Cordinators at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, which was third in the series of meetings, to strengthen the party at the grass roots level, by implementing the decisions taken at the Nav Sankalp Udaipur Chintan Shivir  with the constitution of  Mandalam and Sector for the delimitation  of Blocks. A detailed discussion was held, with senior leaders, District presidents and District Co-ordinators explaining their views for the strengthening of the party. Prominent leaders who attended the meeting were former Delhi Minister  Dr Narendra Nath, Chairman of the Communications Department and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj, ex-MLA Shri Vijay Lochav, Shri Rajesh Garg and Dr Naresh Kumar

Ch. Anil Kumar said that on the one hand, the Delhi Government had made big noice about providing free water to Delhiites, but the hard ground reality was that many colonies in the Capital are not getting potable water, and people have to either depend on the tanker mafia, or buy bottled water from the market, at great cost. He said that it was shocking that people of different areas came out on the streets to protest against non-availability of drinking water, making a mockery of the Delhi Government’s free water scheme, which was just an election stunt to fool the poor people.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that many colonies, where the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had laid water pipelines, were still waiting for water supply through the lines, as the DJB has not taken any steps to activate water supply through those pipelines. He said that people in many  colonies, particularly where the poor live, are struggling to arrange drinking water, as the tanker mafia have been fishing in troubled waters to exploit the water shortage  by selling drinking water at inflated costs. As a result, the poor people are forced to buy drinking water from the market.
