Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that Arvind Kejriwal’s “double engine” Government was thoroughly exposed as the monsoon rains, which lashed Delhi since morning today, flooded the roads and streets, causing heavy traffic jams across the city, particularly at ITO, under the very nose of CM Kejriwal’s office at Delhi Secretariat, to call his bluff of making all the preparations to tackle the monsoon water-logging and traffic jams.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Government PWD Minister Atishi and Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi had asserted time and again recently that officials have been “instructed” to make all the arrangements to prevent water-logging and traffic jams, particularly those areas prone to water-logging, but all their claims got submerged in the heavy rains as the entire city was brought to a complete standstill with traffic not moving for hours together. He said that Delhi Congress had cautioned about such a scenario long before the rains arrived in the Capital, as like in the past few years, ever since Kejriwal came to power in Delhi, the desilting of the drains were not done at all, or not completed on time.
Ch.Anil Kumar said that when BJP was in power at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Kejriwal would indulge in blame-games with the BJP for the monsoon woes. He said that before the MCD elections, Kejrwial had promised to the people of Delhi that if they ensure “AAP Ki Sarkar, AAP Ke Parshad” in Delhi, he would address all the problems to make Delhi a “world class” Capital in every respect, but the first major monsoon rains exposed his lies and falsehood, as the flooded, broken roads brought vehicular traffic to a total halt, stranding people on the roads for hours together.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that due to Kejriwal’s regular “political tourism” to other States of the country, and entrusting the PWD Department to an inexperienced Minister like Atishi, the people of Delhi are forced to suffer for their incompetence and inaction.
